Sports Talk: New Orleans Saints Bounty Scandal

Now I started following and becoming a fan of the Saints once my booski got there in 2006. But even with him being traded to the Dolphins in 2011, I still considered myself to be a fan since we do have OSU Buckeyes represented on the team.
I am a firm believer in incentive programs and making people earn extra whatever for a hard day’s work or whatever the case. But, this whole idea of earning money from the extent you hurt/injure an opponent is craziness. I have been trying to keep up with the story and the updates and outcomes since the story broke months ago. I am a HUGE football fan at heart and believe it is truly a contact sport. Everyone is on the market to be hit once on the field. There are a few rules and/or fines that have come about over the years that have made even me question the sport at times. But to deliberately go out with the mindset I am going to take this dude out and make sure he does not return to the game so I can get this dough is just plain OutOfOrder.edu.
So now with this “slush fund” that was put into place for a couple years (2009-2011), the Saints have between 22-27 players who pooled their OWN money to pay out these performance bonuses to their teammates. EVERYONE is about to go down!
This Gregg Williams cat is bad news all around. Of course he fronted some of the money for the program and is now linked to conducting the same type of program at Tennessee, Washington and now at his current location Buffalo. He is taking EVERYONE down with him. Jonathan Vilma is now suspended for the ENTIRE 2012 season which they are saying is the longest suspension for an on field incident in NFL history…WHAT THE BLUE BLAZING!!!! So of course, now he and his attorney have filed a defamation lawsuit against NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Basically he is not happy with the statements/comments Goodell has made overtime publicly about certain Saints executives, coaches, and players, etc. Goodell said the evidence against those he has spoken about will be made public. So I guess we just wait and see what happens! *cues music*
