Get Fit with Me

General Nutrients

Nutrients are substances in food on which the body depends for proper functioning.

There are six classes of nutrients. This week's nutrient is WATER!

Water is the largest single component of the body. Muscle holds the highest concentration of water while fat tissue holds some of the lowest amounts.

Water has a variety of functions that are essential to life...it acts as a transport medium for nutrients, aids in digestion and elimination, and directly maintains body temperature.

Not getting enough of some nutrients can lead to health problems as can getting too much of other nutrients.
